During the Korean War, Sabre FU-910 was one of three jets assigned to Capt Joseph McConnell who ended his tour as the US’s top scoring ace and remains its’ top scoring jet ace to this day. Nicknamed “Beautious Butch” after McConnell’s wife.
12910 is depicted ready for a Mig Alley sortie with the larger external tanks common later in the war which significantly increased on station time during the Mig Sweep sorties.
