The Vermont Air National Guard's Green Mountain Boys 158th FW became the first ANG operators of the F-35 when they traded their F-16's for Panthers in late 2021. The jets are assigned to the 134 FS Yellow Scorpions and tasked with SEAD (Suppression of Enemy Air Defenses) and operate from Burlington Air National Guard Base.

17-5266 is the squadron's first Lightning II which arrived 19 September 2019 and is shown ready for a training sortie configured with a pair of empty LAU-151's.
