The 78 Fighter Squadron “Bushmasters” flew F-16CJ’s from South Carolina’s Shaw AFB from the early 90‘s into the early 2000’s. Also known as “Barney’s” for the name of the snake mascot kept in the operations building, their primary mission was Suppression and Destruction of Enemy Air Defenses… SEAD/DEAD.

91-0378 was the squadron flagship proudly wearing the highlighted “78 FS” makings on her tail. Depicted before CCIP, she’s ready for a DEAD training sortie on Nellis’ instrumented ranges for GREEN FLAG. She carries an orange TACTS pod on station 1 which allows her to be tracked and displayed during the sortie as well as a captive carry AIM-9M and empty TER-9 racks. She also carries a pair of 370 gallon wing tanks, an AN/ALQ-184 jamming pod on the centerline, an AN/ASQ-213 targeting pod on her chin, and full chaff and flares.

Any Fighter Studios print can be customized with different squadron marking, different store configurations, names on the nose or canopy rail. To get yours started, click Personalized Print for more information or click Email with questions.
