Formed in 1912, No. 3 Squadron was the RAF's first heavier than air unit whose Latin motto "Tertius primus erit" translates to "The Third Shall be the First" proudly proclaims. In keeping with that tradition, they became the first operational Eurofighter squadron with Typhoon F2's in April 2006. They converted to the FGR4 version in 2011 which they continue to operate.
ZJ927 is depicted with a strike configuration carrying 4 x 1000 lb Paveway II Enhanced laser guided bombs, 2 x ASRAAM infrared missiles, and 2 x external wing tanks.
