Moody AFB’s 23 Wing traces its roots back to the Claire Chenault’s AVG P-40 of squadrons WW2’s opening days. Absorbed into the Army Air Corps, they have flown 11 different types of aircraft at 14 different duty stations today flying the A-10.
Still carrying the famous tiger mouth her nose, 79-0189 belongs to the 74th FS Flying Tigers. She is depicted ready for deployment to a forward location carrying a pair of 600-gallon external tanks and a MUX-648 travel pod. Additionally, she carries a pair of AIM-9M missiles and an AN/AAQ-28 Litening ATP.
